Hare’s Ear Nymph
What it imitates: Classic soft-hackled nymph resembling a variety of caddisfly and mayfly nymphs.
Target species: Trout species (brown, rainbow, brook) and feeder species in freshwater.
Where to fish: Rivers, streams, tailwaters, and slow to moderate runs; effective in riffles and seams.
Seasonal use**: Spring through fall; particularly productive during emergences and ongoing sub-surface feeding.
Weather tips:
Clear skies: smaller sizes, subtle presentations.
Cloudy/overcast: a touch larger or darker to provoke strikes.
Presentation: Cast upstream or across, drift near the stream bottom, with slow, steady retrieves or dead-drift with gentle twitches.
