Description

Buzzers are very popular and versatile fly pattern used primarily in freshwater fly fishing to imitate emerging aquatic insects, such as mayflies or midges, during their pupal or emerger stage, tied with slim, elongated body. The pattern is usually tied in subdued colors like black, olive, or purple, but can also be created in various shades to match local insect hatches.

Buzzers are most effective when fishing in lakes, ponds, or slow-moving rivers, especially during spring and summer when insects hatch. Anglers generally fish buzzers with a slow, drifting action, often beneath a strike indicator or on a tight line, to mimic the natural emergence of insects and attract feeding fish such as trout. Their simplicity, realism, and sinking ability make buzzers a staple in many fly boxes.
